What's Caught My Eye This Week

Sorry for the long break in between posts! It was my sister-in-law to be's hen do over the weekend, which I have been planning for months, and last week was filled with last minute preparations and of course, the actual event over the weekend!

So, I have had a bit of browsing time since last week and I have created a mood board of my latest wish list obsessions! I'm loving colour, print, texture and I even spotted an adorable mug from Cath Kidston, which I am desperate to add to my ever growing collection. I had to include a couple of pieces from Monki (my new favourite shop), a pretty lace dress in a stunning lemon shade from Jane Norman and some summer festival essentials from River Island.

I love the idea of mixing colour, print and texture for SS12 - a bit of native with neon, graphic prints with boho accents and pastel tones with a masculine edge. It really is a season to have fun with.

Winter Arrives...Knitwear Stays!

There I was all set for my SS12 wardrobe to start...eyeing up all those delectable pastels, metallics and floral dresses, when winter finally arrives! I'm not sure where everyone is based, but here in London, it's struggling to get to above freezing, and I am shivering in my new season garb!!

So, as I am sure most of the country (and outside of the UK) are feeling the big chill too, I decided to have a looksee at some new season knitwear pieces from my fave place to purchase cosy, stylish and affordable knitwear, River Island. These pieces are all super warm, but also embrace the colour palettes and styles which are going to be big for the new season. I'm especially loving Navajo inspired knits at the moment, and was very jealous when my hubby received a gorgeous Navajo cardigan for his birthday yesterday from my brother and sister-in-law to be! So I decided to find a femme version on my own so we can look cosy together...matchy matchy!

Dreaming in Pastels

So it's the coldest week of winter so far...minus 1 today, but I cannot stop dreaming about buying a whole new wardrobe in gorgeous pastel tones.

Pastels is one of my favourite trends for SS12 - they were part of my favourite catwalks, shown at Meadham Kirchhoff, Louis Vuitton and Dior, and I love the sweet girliness of the trend, which I would toughen up with hints of black, leather accessories and a touch of stud detailing. Lovely!

I've put together selection of my favourite pastel pieces from the high street...hopefully I'll be able to treat myself to a few bits!

ASOS SS12 Trend Report

Part of my job is to evaluate and see what competitor brands are e-mailing about in their newsletters, that get sent out to their customer database. Combine that with my love of shopping, I'm signed up to a fair few of these newsletters!

For the past few weeks, I have been skimming the majority of them, as they have mainly been about sales, sales, sales, and the content has not been that exciting!

Today, all that changed when I received an e-mail from ASOS. I got very excited, as it was their seasonal trend report for SS12! Yippee! Now, as you are aware, I am far more of a fan of autumn/winter fashion, but, the catwalks for SS12 were so gorgeous, I am actually really looking forward to building a new wardrobe for the new year.

Anyway, ASOS do really fab trend reports, and have focused on key trends including; Freak Like Me, Lace Odyssey, Game On, Mermaids, Pyjama Party, Pretty Sweet, 21st Century Gatsby, Colour Blast and Total Print. You can have a looksee at the inspiration behind each trend and then shop it! The perfect cure for the January blues.
