Mulberry's AW12 Campaign Preview

Happy Saturday!

I'm so sorry I have been AWOL for the last couple of weeks. There has been a lot going on and I have had hardly any free time to blog...big fat sad face...but I am back now! Yay!

In the world of fashion, I am getting very excited, because it's time for designers to release their autumn/winter campaigns, and for the first drops of AW12 to start hitting the stores.

Already I have spotted a designer campaign that stopped me in my tracks and really caught my attention. Mulberry's AW12 is simply one of my favourite campaigns of all time. Photographer Tim Walker captures model Lindsey Wixson roaming around the woods in a dreamy setting, complete with two gorgeous Gruffalo style woodland creatures.

Tim’s work is like a series of fairytales, single images with a strong, rich narrative and just the right mix of charm, romance and darkness: he’s a kind of alchemist and working with him is like being part of one of his fairytales. The campaign shoot, deep in the woods, surrounded by monsters and the doll-like Lindsey Wixson, was a magical experience that perfectly brought our Autumn/Winter season to life.” states Georgia Fendley, Mulberry Brand Director.

Of course the clothes and accessories look amazing, but more than that, Mulberry have created a campaign, which captures the fun, spirit and magical nature that fashion should be about. I am in love!

What do you think about the campaign? Enjoy x

Lady Gaga's Debut Fragrance

Back in the summer of 2011, it was revealed that super star and mother monster, Lady Gaga was secretly working on a fragrance with a bit of a difference. She had teamed up with Coty - the company that makes Kate Moss and SJP's perfumes, as well as the likes of Chloe and Mark Jacobs - she's in safe hands then!
At the time of the announcement, Coty were unable to reveal much about the perfume, not even a name! Boo!

Then Miss Gaga herself told US Vogue that she will be bringing out her own perfume and it would have elements of...wait for it...blood and semen. O....K... always expect the unexpected with mother monster.

So now, a year later, the perfume is still a big secret, with no further details being released, until now! New information has been released this week with rumours suggesting that the perfume is to be called "Fame" and will not smell like bodily fluids, but more like "an expensive hooker" Fabulous!

What do you think Of Lady Gaga releasing a fragrance? Will you be trying it? Enjoy x

Ever Wanted to be a Fashion Editor?

Calling all fashion magazine hopefuls!

If you've ever been an intern in the world of fashion (I was for about a year) in order to see you name on the masthead of a magazine, Elle magazine are now offering the chance to make that happen.

I am an advocate and life long fan of Elle, as I interned there for 6 months, and now, my favourite glossy is offering something very cool to the world of interns out there - their chance to edit the October issue of Elle.

The magazine’s October 2012 issue is going to be “Edited by the Interns,” and to get the job done, the publication is opening up 10 positions, for budding stylists, writers, photographers, and of course, editors.

If you're interested, read on...while you need to submit a proper application (you can find that here) you can also tweet it! The magazine is asking prospective interns to highlight their entries on Twitter, using the hashtag #ELLEintern2012. All entrants will be judged by an Elle editorial panel and the winners, who start in July, will be paid contributor fees.

This is a fab way for the magazine to introduce themselves to a younger more social media savvy crowd.

What do you think of this stunt? Will you be entering? Get in line ;o) Enjoy x

Harvey Nichols New Sale Campaign - A Step Too Far?

If you're a fashion fan, you'll most likely be aware that the sales are a-coming! I personally am not that bothered about sales, but I love sale campaigns - especially those of the big department stores.
Of all of the campaigns so far this year, there is one that sticks out and is currently causing a lot of controversy in the fashion world, and that belongs to iconic department store Harvey Nichols.

Harvey Nichs are not one to shy away from in-your-face campaigns - there is their cartoon lookbook starring hand-drawn supermodel Polly Beans, and their Christmas campaign featuring girls walking home late at night in different levels of dishevelment along with the slogan "avoid the walk of shame this season."

Well, their ad banners to publicise their upcoming sale are no different! They show male and female models with extremely wet...ahem...crotch areas and the slogan "try to contain your excitement." Ooh blimey!

Twitter has gone crazy over this latest ad campaign, with some tweets declaring their disgust and others thinking it's genius. I actually don't know how I feel about them - they are pretty gross but at the same time they certainly grab your attention, which I guess is kind of the point!

What do you think of this campaign? Enjoy x

Diamond Jubilee

I just wanted to do a quickie post about the Diamond Jubilee.

It was an amazing few days in London - loads going on, fab sense of community, the concert, procession, service...it was a fun time to be a Brit.

The Queen looked beautiful every day of the celebrations. She stuck to the colour palette which works best for her, soft, pastel shades in cool blues, warm gold and sparkling silvery/white, and each of her outfits looked gorgeous. The other stand out star of the jubilations was of course, the stunning Kate Middleton...or Catherine Windsor...whichever, you know who I mean. She looked amazing, albeit a bit skinny, on both the boat procession day and the service day, where her attire was classic with a very contemporary twist and her hair and make-up were youthful and relaxed.

I've chosen my favourite Queen and Kate looks from the celebrations.

With the Queen, I particularly loved what she wore on the first day of the celebrations - a chic and simple studded white coat dress, and custom diamond encrusted hat (which had a really cool contemporary shape) by Angela Kelly and of course, her trusted black Lauder handbag.

As for Kate, I loved what she wore on the barge procession. Once again, she opted for British designer Alexander McQueen (great choice). The beautiful red pleated Mcqueen dress was stylish, eye-catching and showed off her narrow silhouette perfectly. I especially loved the cute pleated skirt, which was a younger sort of flirty touch - get ready for a lot of high street knock offs! She also wore her beloved nude LK Bennet shoes - a bit bored of these now, a red Sylvia Fletcher hat and a gorgeous silver dolphin brooch, which was given to her as a gift from the royal navy submarine service.

Did you watch any of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations? Enjoy x
