Ever Wanted to be a Fashion Editor?

Calling all fashion magazine hopefuls!

If you've ever been an intern in the world of fashion (I was for about a year) in order to see you name on the masthead of a magazine, Elle magazine are now offering the chance to make that happen.

I am an advocate and life long fan of Elle, as I interned there for 6 months, and now, my favourite glossy is offering something very cool to the world of interns out there - their chance to edit the October issue of Elle.

The magazine’s October 2012 issue is going to be “Edited by the Interns,” and to get the job done, the publication is opening up 10 positions, for budding stylists, writers, photographers, and of course, editors.

If you're interested, read on...while you need to submit a proper application (you can find that here) you can also tweet it! The magazine is asking prospective interns to highlight their entries on Twitter, using the hashtag #ELLEintern2012. All entrants will be judged by an Elle editorial panel and the winners, who start in July, will be paid contributor fees.

This is a fab way for the magazine to introduce themselves to a younger more social media savvy crowd.

What do you think of this stunt? Will you be entering? Get in line ;o) Enjoy x

Kristen Stewart Covers Elle - June 2012

If you read my blog regularly, you would know that I am not a big fan of Kristen Stewart. It's not JUST because she gets to do unspeakable things to Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner...it's not JUST because she gets to wear amazing clothes and always has to do something "quirky" to make them look kind of cheap and not so classy and it's not JUST because the girl never EVER smiles...it's all of the above really.

I have noted that the girl doesn't ever seem go look happy. I get the whole brooding actress thing, but come on girl...crack a smile!!

However, this has not stopped some of the world's best and biggest fashion designers, brands and magazines wanting to team up with the young actress. She's been on more magazine covers than she's had hot dinners, and this month is no exception.

One of my fave and most sentimental magazines, Elle, has chosen Belle Swan as their June cover girl - as she is gearing up for the release of her new movie; Snow White and the Huntsman. The 21 year old is dressed in a gorgeous white Jil Sander sweater and dress...amazing outfit, but big shock...no smile! Just a slightly peed off expression. It would be so refreshing to see her smile, in just one shot, and as Elle is such a fun and down to earth magazine, it would be great if they could have gotten her looking young, fun and happy. Oh well, she has a long career ahead of her and hopefully we'll see her smile on a cover one day :)

What do you think of Kristen Stewart? Enjoy x

Magazine Covers and Designer Collaborations

Hello!

Happy Sunday. I hope you're all having a lovely relaxing Sunday evening.

It's been a bit of a manic week, so apologies for the lack of blogging. I've just painted my nails a gorgeous sunshine yellow (because of today's fab sunny weather - see below) and am in the mood to spread some blog love :)

I spotted a magazine cover this week that I really loved and thought I'd share it with you. It is the April issue of Elle magazine, who have opted for the stunning Olsen twins as their cover stars. I'm not really that in love with the Olsens. Having practically grown up watching them as babies on Full House all the way to their terrible movie career and now as bonafide fashion icons, designers and entrepreneurs, I am always impressed by their fabulous style choices.

Now, not only do these two get to be on the cover...they each get their own cover! that is the power of this dynamic duo. Ashley is styled in a delicate nude dress dripping with jewels and Mary Kate is dressed in a beautiful white shirt adorned with sparkling diamantés. They both look sensational, but I particularly love the look in Mary Kate's eyes! That's smysing!!

On the 8th March on my way to work, I ventured past the H&M on Regent Street to see how big the queue was for the H&M Marni collaboration launch...just on the off chance it was really tiny and I could sneak into the store before work started...no such luck! The queue was HUGE and not wanting to be late for work, I thought I might just pop in on my lunch break to see if there was anything left. There were a couple of bits..the odd jacket and dress but all of the bits I had my eye on had sadly been nabbed up :-(

This collaboration was a lot more grown up than recent ventures...such as the Versace collection. Clean lines, beautiful textures and patterns and stunning colours, which all work together like a gorgeous mosaic. My favourites include silk dresses with popping prints, oversized  floral necklaces, silk printed trousers and tees with sequin collars. If you haven't seen the collection, the campaign was shot by Sofia Coppola, and it really is gorgeous. I;ve put some of my fave pieces from the collection below. What do you think of the collection? In Love with River Island's Autumn Collection!

Hello!

I am sorry I have been absent for so long. Many apologies and I do hope you'll forgive me. Life has been crazy busy, but as always, fashion must go on.

It is getting to be my favourite time of the year - with summer drawing to a close, the high street is starting to churn out their new autumn collections. Just the sight of a chunky knit and oversized sweater/maxi skirt combo and I am in heaven. I find autumn/winter clothes so much more exciting and enticing - layers of different textures, boots, woolly socks and tights, accessories such as hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, earmuffs...Ooh the list goes on!

I've been starting my autumn collection slowly, and have found about a million things from River Island that I am desperate to own. They do autumn and winter so well. Amazing knits, separates, accessories and statement pieces and with the new Chelsea Girl range as well, there is just so much choice!...so, I have done a little edit of bits which are available now, in the hope that you will love them too. Roll on autumn! Enjoy x

Kirstin Dunst Covers Elle's September Issue!

I love late July, early August, because it means September issues!

Elle have brought out a real beauty for their September issue, and I am not normally a fan of their cover star! Elle have opted for American sweetheart Kirstin Dunst as their cover star. Although I don't find her particularly beautiful (she's a little too quirky looking and pulls some strange faces), this cover is reminiscent of fashion magazines past. So whimsical and romantic...soft pink blushes, indigos and gorgeous soft lighting...ahhh...makes you want to fall in love really! And I guess Kirstin don't look too bad either! enjoy x
