The Oscar's Award Winning Dresses

I have always been a huge fan of the Oscars.

When I was little, I used to stay up with my mum till 5am to watch the whole show! Now, I try to watch it live, but end up taping it and watching it over the course of the following days.

Now, I love watching the red carpet as well as the award ceremonies, and seeing what everyone wore - the hits, the misses and all the glamour.

This year, seven ladies really stuck out to me; Meryl Streep, Rooney Mara, Cameron Diaz, Angelina Jolie, Michelle Williams, J-Lo and Gwyneth Paltrow, who all wore stunning gowns by the likes of Tom Ford, Givenchy, Gucci, Marc Jacobs and other fabulous names.

My favourite trend of the dresses were the pretty floaty nude gowns, with flowing trains, a smattering of shimmer and a slight etheral quality. I've put my faves below, but would love to hear who your favourites were. Enjoy x

I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud...

Hello there!

Sorry for my loooooong absence! I've been off in the beautiful Lake District celebrating my one year anniversary! Just got back to London town after a mammoth drive and I am utterly zonked!

I'll be back to normal blogging this week, and there is so much to talk about...Fashion Weeks, the Oscars (Angelina Jolie's rogue leg?!) etc, so be prepared for some long over due fashion and beauty talk!

In the mean time, I've put a few piccies from our trip to the Lakes...if you've never been, I really recommend going, it is such an amazing place full of beauty, history, beatrix potter, wordsworth, the best gingerbread ever, fab food and of course, gorgeous lakes and mountains. My skin really appreciated a few days of of the London smog!

Anywhoo, hope everyone is well. Enjoy x

Take a Look Inside Mulberry's SS12 Lookbook

I think I have probably expressed my love for Mulberry on here quite a few times already, and by doing so, have ended up with some lovely birthday and Christmas presents from observant readers! Well, this isn't a ploy to end up with another Mulberry something to add to my collection...maybe a little!

I received the Mulberry SS12 look book and was so excited by it, not only by its contents, but how it looked, that I had to do a little blog about it.

The look book arrived in a candy floss pink envelope, which in itself looked good enough to eat! upon opening it, the look book had the look, and texture of an old fashion ice cream waffle cone! Mulberry went full out candy-tastic for their SS12 collection, and, as they state; "Inspired by the great British seaside - piers, arcades, donkey rides and sticks of rock - our new season borrows the fanciful fun on Carry on Camping and fuses it with plenty of eclectic Mulberry charm, luxe detailing and kiss-me-quick chic."

In the lookbook, the products are joined with cute props like sticks of rock, handfuls of sweets and peppermint sticks. I do love a bit of kitsch! As for the collection, expect colourful takes of Mulberry classics, fun and retro inspired designs and a big helping of lust-worthy pieces.

I snapped a few of my favourite products from the look book below, along with my Mulberry inspired nails.

What do you think of the new collection? Enjoy x

Kylie Rocks in this Week's Stylist Magazine

I am not normally the biggest Kylie Minogue fan. I have nothing against her - I think she's cute and can hold her own on stage. Her stylist obviously dresses her well, and I kind of loved "Can't Get You Out of My Head," but I've never really seen her as a fashion superstar.

This perception changed today when I picked up my weekly Stylist magazine. This bumper issue is just fabulous! The pint sized singer is dressed by 25 of the world's greatest fashion designers (to commemorate her 25 years in music). JEALOUS!! Including a Cavalli dress designed especially for her. Yes, jealous...very jealous. She actually looks amazing in this mega fashion spread, and manages to evoke a new look, attitude and style for each of the shots. OK Kylie, you rock!

Designers participating in the spread include; Stephen Jones, Roksanda Ilincic, Sonia Rykiel, Philip Treacy, Tom Ford, Christopher Kane, Victoria Beckham, Julien McDonald, Stella McCartney, David Koma, Alexander McQueen, Roberto Cavalli, Chanel, Antonio Beradi, Richard Nicoll, Preen, Basso & Brooke, Holly Fulton, Bodyamr, Mark Fast, Peter Pilotto, Emilio Pucci, Tommy Hilfiger, and Mary Katrantzou.

I love that they used more avant garde, British designers such as Christopher Kane, Holly Fulton and Mary Katrantzou, along with such established fashion houses as Alexander McQueen, Chanel and Cavalli.

This shoot was styled by Alexandra Fullerton and shot by William Baker. If you haven't grabbed your copy by now...hurry up, there's still time! Enjoy x

Meadham Kirchhoff team up with Nail Rock

Meadham Kirchhoff's SS12 collection was one of my favourite runway shows. I adore the kitsch style, cute prints, surgary girly-ness and pastel colours. You can read about my review of the show here.

Now, I am not one who can personally afford to buy a designer piece, so I was so excited when I heard that Nail Rock were collaborating with the duo to create a bespoke range of nail wraps for SS12...yay!

Now for those of you have haven't heard of Nail Rock, they are amazing nail wraps which look just like polish, but you apply them almost like tattoo transfers, and they come in loads of fabulous designs - animal print, metallics, polka dots, stripes, you name it they have it!

This collaboration with Meadham Kirchhoff showcases some of their best designs from their SS12 collection, including sweet dollies, kittens, cartoon giraffes and love hearts. So adorable I can hardly bare it!

The nail wraps are £8 a packet and are available from Topshop.

What do you think of Nail Rock? Have you tried their nail wraps? Would you try the Meadham Kirchhoff collection? Enjoy x

New Girl Style Crush - Lana Del Ray

As much as I have been trying to not love new girl on the block Lana Del Ray's sultry tones and pouty lips...I just can't help it. The girl is awesome!

Her voice is such a breath of fresh air, and I love her look. Kind of 1970's hippie meets flower child meets 2012 fashionista! She's now starting to get really noticed by the fashion industry, and is appearing on front covers, such as Q, Wonderland and fashion bible Vogue.

Her style is so adaptable, she seems to be able to take any look the fashion mavens give her, whether it's chick rocker, soft siren or ultra girly. I am currently obsessed with her new single Born to Die, and I cannot wait to see what 2012 has to offer this new star.

What do you think of Lana Del Ray? Do you have any other stand out stars of 2012? Enjoy x

Candy Nails

A few days ago I posted about a new O.P.I nail varnish from their Kardashian Kolor collection - Rainbow in the S-kylie. I absolutely love this super colourful and glittery nail varnish - it's full of sparkle and fun and I used two coats plus a few extra splodges to get a real kaleidoscope effect.

Unfortunately it only lasted a couple of days, as it chipped and peeled away really easily. I still love it, but it's definitely not tough enough to last you a week, so I recommend using it for a night out or a special occasion to really make an impact.

I did discover a fab new way of using it just now though. I applied two coats of my new Parma Violet nail varnish from 17 at Boots (a bargain at £1.99) and then I applied one coat of the O.P.I. The effect is a gorgeous candy colour which looks like it's been dipped in rainbow sugar. I am absolutely in love with it! I can't wait to try this out on my other new pastel colours...I think this will be my signature nail look this season!

I've put an image of both stages below. What do you think? Would you try a glittery top coat? Enjoy x
