What's Caught My Eye This Week

Sorry for the long break in between posts! It was my sister-in-law to be's hen do over the weekend, which I have been planning for months, and last week was filled with last minute preparations and of course, the actual event over the weekend!

So, I have had a bit of browsing time since last week and I have created a mood board of my latest wish list obsessions! I'm loving colour, print, texture and I even spotted an adorable mug from Cath Kidston, which I am desperate to add to my ever growing collection. I had to include a couple of pieces from Monki (my new favourite shop), a pretty lace dress in a stunning lemon shade from Jane Norman and some summer festival essentials from River Island.

I love the idea of mixing colour, print and texture for SS12 - a bit of native with neon, graphic prints with boho accents and pastel tones with a masculine edge. It really is a season to have fun with.

What do you think of my must-haves this week? Has anything beautiful spotted your eye? Enjoy x

Glasses and Filofaxes!

Happy Monday!

I started the week with two nice additions!

Firstly, I got my new glasses, which might not sound that exciting, but being quite passionate about the "geek chic" look, I love them! I used to wear glasses when I was little (and an eye patch but I won't go there) and I unfortunately chose not to become a regular visitor to my optician, but after being asked by my uncle time and time again (who has a funky optician in Kentish Town) to go in and have them tested, I discovered that yes I do still need glasses, and chose the below pair. They are so cute, with sparkly silver glitter on the corners and frames...very me! Thank you Uncle Harvey and AJ!

The second nice addition was a gorgeous new Filofax which was very kindly sent to me. I am the kind of girl who is very organised at work, but at home and events etc, I need a little help! So when I was offered the Filofax of my choice, I had a look at the website and fell in love with the beautiful birdsong style.

This pretty fabric covered Filofax is so perfect for me. It fits in nearly all of my handbags, is lightweight, has a fabulous colourful organiser inside it and the print is sweet and quirky.

Open up the gorgeous cover and you have a personal organiser, A - Z index, note paper, a diary, to do lists, a personal planner and a little pocket for your pen.

I really love this organiser and it has now found a permanent home in my bag! I have always been the kind of girl who prefers to have things written down than using my Blackberry as a personal organiser. From now on, I will be perfectly organised! Well...a girl can only try ;o)

What do you think of Filofaxes? Do you like writing everything down or are you more of a blackberry/iphone calender user? Enjoy x

this filofax was sent to m as a PR sample - my opinions are always honest

I Heart Printed Trousers

A couple of years ago, I bought a pair of silk tapered trousers with a fabulous Aztec print on them. This was during the summer when a lightweight pair of trousers are the perfect choice for work or play. However, when I wore these printed lovelies, the comments came in thick and fast..."Ooh...their unusual" "you look weird" "I wish I had the confidence to wear something like that" you get the picture!

Now I thought these trousers were fabulous, and the fact that I didn't really see anyone else (apart from a brave few) wearing something like this, made me feel...special!

Well, it seems as if everyone else has finally caught up with this fab trend, and printed trousers have suddenly flooded the high street! Designers showed them strutting down their runways for the SS12 collections, and the styles and prints that the high street have adopted make these trousers suitable for now and for going into autumn!

I've chosen a few of my favourite styles that have caught my eye, with prints ranging from tropical (thank you Stella McCartney) to floral to tribal to abstract! There's a print for every mood.

What do you think about printed trousers? Would you be brave enough to rock a pair? Enjoy x

What's Caught My Eye This Week...

It finally feels as if spring has sprung!

I'm keeping optimistic that it won't just be a little blip like a few weeks ago.

It's been a busy week...went out running last night which is the first time in ages! I'm normally a zumba girl, but I thought I would try and mix it up this week, considering the weather is so gorgeous :)

With warm weather on the brain and distant dreams of long sunny days & long summer nights, I've been having a mooch around the shops and have made my new spring wish list...for this week at least!

I'm really loving all of the bright colours, warm tones, feminine cuts and shapes and fab nail varnish colours. One thing I am always on the look out every summer is the perfect summer shoe. I never seem to have enough options for warm weather footwear, so I've spotted two pairs this week that I love and might have to indulge in.

Have you spotted any fabulous spring/summer must-haves? Enjoy x

Agyness Deyn Collaborates with Dr Martens

When you think of androgynous model Agnyess Deyn, what springs to mind? Punk hair? Androgynous dresser? Tomboy prettiness? When I think of this Northern lass, I always picture her in a pair of Dr Martens...and what do you know...she's created a collection with the iconic footwear brand! Whoo hoo!

Aggy has starred in the last two Dr Marten campaigns...have a looksee below:

Her cool, punk look is perfect for the brand and she looks so at home modelling for them. 'The brand is a great fit for me,' Aggy tells WWD 'It stands for strong character and being able to shape your own personal identity.'

According to her interview in WWD, we can expect more than just awesome shoes from the collection! Get ready for clothing, footwear and accessories from the collaboration, which is due to launch in the autumn. I'm thinking lots of grunge but done in a cool '90's way and obviously, very stylish and chic! How she does that I have no idea, but maybe when these range launches, we'll all be able to imitate her enviable look. Enjoy x

Magazine Covers and Designer Collaborations

Hello!

Happy Sunday. I hope you're all having a lovely relaxing Sunday evening.

It's been a bit of a manic week, so apologies for the lack of blogging. I've just painted my nails a gorgeous sunshine yellow (because of today's fab sunny weather - see below) and am in the mood to spread some blog love :)

I spotted a magazine cover this week that I really loved and thought I'd share it with you. It is the April issue of Elle magazine, who have opted for the stunning Olsen twins as their cover stars. I'm not really that in love with the Olsens. Having practically grown up watching them as babies on Full House all the way to their terrible movie career and now as bonafide fashion icons, designers and entrepreneurs, I am always impressed by their fabulous style choices.

Now, not only do these two get to be on the cover...they each get their own cover! that is the power of this dynamic duo. Ashley is styled in a delicate nude dress dripping with jewels and Mary Kate is dressed in a beautiful white shirt adorned with sparkling diamantés. They both look sensational, but I particularly love the look in Mary Kate's eyes! That's smysing!!

On the 8th March on my way to work, I ventured past the H&M on Regent Street to see how big the queue was for the H&M Marni collaboration launch...just on the off chance it was really tiny and I could sneak into the store before work started...no such luck! The queue was HUGE and not wanting to be late for work, I thought I might just pop in on my lunch break to see if there was anything left. There were a couple of bits..the odd jacket and dress but all of the bits I had my eye on had sadly been nabbed up :-(

This collaboration was a lot more grown up than recent ventures...such as the Versace collection. Clean lines, beautiful textures and patterns and stunning colours, which all work together like a gorgeous mosaic. My favourites include silk dresses with popping prints, oversized  floral necklaces, silk printed trousers and tees with sequin collars. If you haven't seen the collection, the campaign was shot by Sofia Coppola, and it really is gorgeous. I;ve put some of my fave pieces from the collection below. What do you think of the collection? Enjoy x

Monki-ing Around

There has been a lot of buzz about quirky brand Monki recently. If you want a bit of background info on the brand, check out a post I did last year here.

Up until very recently, I had to get my Monki fit at the little concession at Selfridges. It’s a lovely concession really, very well laid out and it displays the product very well, but because of its size, it doesn’t make the most of the brand’s personality…and this is a brand with a lot of personality!

Well, now you can get a big Monki fix at their new store in Carnaby Street! I went for a mooch around yesterday and used up my whole lunch hour! The shop is laid out like a slick, high fashion boutique, with products arranged in a very stylised and unique way. There is a lot of colour, light and quirky touches, such as the Monki characters, placed around the shop. It is on 2 levels and there are cute quotes on the walls and mirrored chandeliers.

I fell in love with the shop. It has a really relaxed feel about it and isn’t overly merchandised, so you feel as if you can really see everything they have to offer. As for the clothing…I struggled not to spend my entire monthly salary! Oversized shirts, spring jackets, pretty pastels, flatforms, floaty pencil skirts, baggy dresses, lace and florals and so much more! I picked up a floral print dress and a lace dress and I have my eye on a couple of pairs of shoes and a stripy dress…but I’ll try and contain myself until next pay day!

I’ve taken a few snaps below of the shop and the products. Have you been into Monki? What do you think of the clothing? Enjoy x

What's Caught My Eye This Week...

Happy Friday!

Hope you've all had a good week.

It was pay day for me this week (finally!) so I thought I would have a meander around my favourite shops and compile a list of what I would love to buy. I am trying to be good at the moment and not shop as much...so maybe I'll just have to settle for one thing from my list!

I'm really impressed with what's on offer on the high street right now...the SS12 collections are out in full and there are some gorgeous pieces. I'm not normally a spring/summer fashion lover, but I am loving the mix of faded nudes, soft prints, floaty chiffons and vibrant neons. They make a really interesting mix that, surprisingly, go really well together.

Anyway, have a looksee at my wish list below and let me know what you think. Has anything caught your eye on the high street? Enjoy x
